4. Although at times there may not be sufficient work

to occupy the whole time of two Deputy Registrars, it would lead

to much inconvenience both to the department and to the public if

the post of one Deputy Registrar were abolished. It frequently

happens that the Registrar is engaged the whole morning or after-

-noon in taxing or taking enquiries or commissions, and while

doing so the interruptions are very frequent and might be much more

numerous if there were only one Deputy Registrar, who might him-

-self be engaged in taxing, leaving no one to attend to the awear-

-ing of affidavits, probate and Company matters, etc.
